the sun don’t always shine in a harbourtown
the lines between the seasons are a blur
the ocean knows your name and it calls you home
like a voice inside your head you’ve never heard

no one keeps a secret in a harbourtown
you never know what trouble you may find
i might just fall in love in this harbourtown
i hear that it happens all the time

people stop and stare in a harbourtown
some boats come to shore and never stay
the waitress at the legion hasn’t changed a bit
while everything else does these days

the fog is like a blanket in this harbourtown
it don’t keep me warm but it’ll do
and i don’t know what love is in this harbourtown
that’s what 6 years in alberta does to you

i should have stayed i should have listened
i should have took what i was given, and just given in
now the cards are on the table,
wondering if i have the heart to start over again
all over again

the sun don’t always shine in a harbourtown
some boats come to shore and never stay
i just might fall in love in this harbourtown
and i wouldn’t have it any other way
